Lead Researcher (PI): Boyd Mori
Institution: University of Alberta
Total WGRF Funding: $156,148
Co-Funders: Alberta Canola Producers Commission, Manitoba Canola Growers Association
Start Date: 2020
Project Length: 4 Years
Objectives:

Establish a comprehensive record of the insect community in Central Alberta canola fields. Develop next-generation DNA sequencing methods to identify the breadth of predator-prey relationships in canola fields. Develop a multiplex PCR method to identify common canola pests in the diet of various generalist predators. Quantify the impact of key predator species on pest populations in laboratory bioassays.
