Lead Researcher (PI): Istvan Rajcan
Institution: University of Guelph
Total WGRF Funding: $64,000
Co-Funders: Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Grain Farmers of Ontario, Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers, Field Farms Marketing Ltd, Organic Council of Ontario
Start Date: 2019
Project Length: 4 Years
Objectives:

To build knowledge on how to efficiently develop, through plant breeding, new soybean cultivars for organic growers to maximize competitiveness, efficiency and volume of production. This will be achieved by growing breeding populations of soybeans that have been developed from bi-parental food grade crosses and selected in previous years on contrasting organic and non-organic farms.
