WGRF Invests $1 Million for Barley Cluster Research

Earlier today, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) announced a new Canadian National Barley Cluster. Western Grains Research Foundation (WGRF) is pleased to be investing just over $1 million into the Barley Cluster over five years.

The Barley Cluster will focus on research that helps maintain barley as a competitive crop choice for Canadian producers. WGRF will specifically support activities focused on variety development, agronomy, pathology and knowledge transfer.

The Barley Cluster will be administered by the Canadian Barley Research Coalition (CBRC). The total value of barley research funded under the five-year Cluster exceeds $9.6 million, making it a significant investment in advancing barley innovation.

WGRF would like to acknowledge and thank all funders of the Canadian National Barley Cluster: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Alberta Grains, Beef Cattle Research Council, Brewing and Malting Barley Research Institute, Canadian Field Crop Research Alliance, Atlantic Grains Council, Grain Farmers of Ontario, Producteurs de grains du Québec, SeCan, CBS Bio Platforms, Manitoba Crop Alliance, Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission (SaskBarley)
