Total WGRF Funding:
$146,257
Co-Funders:
Agriculture Development Fund, Manitoba Crop Alliance, Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission
Start Date:
2022
Project Length:
4 Years
Objectives:
Determine the optimum conditions required for accelerated growth of flax for seed production and reduced generation time, and to establish the protocols for the high-throughput extraction of DNA suitable for molecular marker screening and the early harvesting of bolls to produce viable seeds. Evaluate speed breeding to generate a RIL population for genetic mapping. Use speed breeding to generate preregistration lines by integrating marker assisted selection (MAS) and selection based on phenotypes.
