Institution:
University of Saskatchewan
Total WGRF Funding:
$112,450
Co-Funders:
Manitoba Crop Alliance, Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission, Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission
Start Date:
2023
Project Length:
3 Years
Objectives:
Evaluate a diverse assembly of wheat and barley germplasm from the Plant Gene Resources of Canada (PGRC) in the field for bacterial leaf streak (BLS) reaction. Score breeding lines from the Crop Development Centre barley and spring bread wheat breeding program for BLS resistance in the field. Test how wide BLS resistance is by screening resistant lines under controlled conditions using multiple Canadian isolates.
