Lead Researcher (PI): Syama Chatterton
Institution: Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada
Total WGRF Funding: $176,503
Co-Funders: Agriculture Development Fund, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers
Start Date: 2022
Project Length: 4 Years
Objectives:

To identify the genetic variation for root rot resistance from a core collection of diverse pea germplasm lines. To accurately predict root rot disease resistance of pea with genomics prediction and machine learning (ML). To develop capacity to evaluate Fusarium solani that is classified as Risk Group 2 and requires specialized containment level 2. To develop innovative tools to support producer decision making for pea and lentil cropping in the field. To identify key environmental and site-specific factors that drive root rot development.
