Lead Researcher (PI): Steven Shirtliffe
Institution: University of Saskatchewan
Total WGRF Funding: $181,327
Co-Funders: Agriculture Development Fund, Alberta Grains, Manitoba Crop Alliance, Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission
Start Date: 2024
Project Length: 4 Years
Objectives:

Develop methodology to digitally phenotype early generation hill-plots to predict yield, harvest index, and vegetative biomass. Develop and utilize digital phenotypes for specific traits (canopy senescence - quick dry down, crop lodging and straw strength, and drought tolerance).
