Lead Researcher (PI): Charles Geddes
Institution: Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada
Total WGRF Funding: $128,256
Co-Funders: Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Alberta Grains, Manitoba Crop Alliance, Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission
Start Date: 2023
Project Length: 5 Years
Objectives:

i) Assess weed populations present in 120 wheat fields comparing winter wheat vs. ultra-early spring wheat vs. typical spring wheat.
ii) Conduct a multi-site-year field experiment to develop weed-suppressive no-till wheat production systems.
iii) Conduct field experimentation to determine how alternative wheat seeding systems can be used to target the phenology of kochia seed production.
