Lead Researcher (PI): Sijo Joseph (Thandapilly)
Institution: Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada
Total WGRF Funding: $145,600
Co-Funders: Manitoba Crop Alliance, Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission
Start Date: 2023
Project Length: 3 Years
Objectives:

Identify the weather conditions for late maturity a-amylase (LMA) expression, optimize a method for artificial induction of LMA, develop an enzyme-based assay for confirming LMA and establishing definite LMA positive and negative lines, and screen CWRS, CPSR and CNHR germplasm for variability in LMA.
