1) Understand the relationship between soil moisture and nitrogen management:
1a) Determine optimum nitrogen management practices under field conditions as a function of soil moisture,
1b) Determine the effect of soil moisture and temperature on rate of nitrification from banded fertilizer nitrogen under controlled environment conditions.
2) Develop real-time decision support information.
