Objectives:
1. To adapt published markers associated with race BBG/BN leaf resistance genes for use with germplasm in Canadian breeding programs. 2. To use appropriate markers in Canadian breeding populations to select for resistance to BBG/BN leaf rust. 3. To accelerate advancement of leaf rust resistance lines through field testing for entry into Coop trial. 4. To identify molecular markers linked to stripe rust resistance and optimize them for future use in marker assisted selection.
