Lead Researcher (PI): Curtis Pozniak
Institution: University of Saskatchewan
Total WGRF Funding: $204,124
Co-Funders: Agriculture Development Fund, Manitoba Crop Alliance, Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission
Start Date: 2024
Project Length: 5 Years
Objectives:

Optimize a sequence based high-throughput genotyping platform to support predictive breeding for resistance to heat and drought in CWRS and durum wheat. Develop a multi-temporal, thermal imaging digital phenotyping strategy platform for heat and drought selection in wheat. Apply the genotypic and digital phenotypic/agronomic performance data to develop predictive breeding models and apply to early generation breeding populations.
