Lead Researcher (PI): Colin Hiebert
Institution: Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada
Total WGRF Funding: $69,202
Co-Funders: Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Alberta Wheat Commission
Start Date: 2014
Project Length: 5 Years
Objectives:

To produce germplasm that carries diversified leaf rust and stem rust resistance that includes new combinations of major resistance genes and a backbone of critical adult-plant, race-nonspecific resistance in elite genetic backgrounds. To develop DNA markers to enable further marker-assisted selection.
