Objectives:

To transfer antibiotic resistance against wheat midge from hexaploid spring wheats to tetraploid durum wheat. To transfer deterrence to egg laying by wheat midge already identified in a durum line to durum adapted to western Canada. To transfer resistance which prevents establishment of newly hatched wheat midge larvae into durum adapted to western Canada.
